Greyhounds, Watercolor Painting from Start to Finish
( by Dan Waltz )

Adding details to the black/white dog. Enjoying the process. I'll be enjoying it for a while yet.

I hoping to recreate the faces of these dogs by using these photos for references to paint from.

Still adding more and more details to the B/W greyhound one stroke at a time
with my favorite liner brush :-)

Well the B/W dog is almost done, of coarse I will go back into her once the others are to the same point and finish them all up at the same time. So for now on to the second dog. The red one in the middle. I work left to right, because I'm right handed. I don't want my hand resting on the other dogs while I'm painting.

Just starting to rough the red dog in using layers of washes,
then roughing in a few added deatils in the face.

Just adding the details to dog #2. Many more details to go.....

Dog #2 is done far enough to move on to dog #3 :-)

Just starting to rough in dog #3.

Dog #3 is roughed in but not to the point of the other two.
Quite a few more details to add before reaching that point.
One more step closer to being done....

This is the last update for this painting, but the painting isn't quite finished yet.
I still have the final touches to do, which consist of a lot of tightening up, shading, blending, and shadowing. This final step can have pretty drastic results or could be very subtle. You will have to come back to see what it does to this one.

Just one thing left to do.....sign it.

The final painting. (Click on the image for a larger view!)
Thanks everyone for following along and a big thanks to the one who
commissioned me to paint these beautiful dogs. Thanks for the challenge Karl.
It truly was a pleasure painting it.

Come back soon....

Thanks for stopping in, I hope you're enjoying the process!
