I had the pleasure recently working with Lana and Joyce on a book project for Joyce Williams, a memoir of her life growing up in Flint, Michigan. A book filled with hard times as well as good times, trials and tribulations. It is a book filled with some history of Flint and General Motors. I encourage you to travel along with Joyce as she takes you on an adventure with her story "In My Own Words." Her adventure, which made her the woman she is today. For more information Click Here.

I was given the opportunity to lay this book out for Joyce and had the pleasure of delivering her books to her last evening. It was truly a pleasure and I wish you luck with your book Joyce.

If any of you have every dreamed of becoming an author like Joyce or myself. You may want to consider giving me a call to see what I have to offer. I would love to talk with you about a book project of your own. It is possible and maybe more affordable then you think.

I received an email from my mother yesterday
with a story I would like to share with you....

Hi Dan,

I was sitting in the hospital waiting room this
morning, while Dad was in doing his stress test, when
a little gal and her mom started talking to me. She
was about 11 or 12, I think. Anyway, they said they
lived in St. Helen. I asked her how she was enjoying
her spring break. She said she'd been reading this
'really cool book' about gnomes. I asked her if she
liked gnomes and she said she really hadn't even
thought about them until she started reading the book.
I told her that 'my son' writes books and she asked
your name. I told her, Dan Waltz, and she started
laughing. She said, 'that's who wrote the book I'm
reading.' (Odd that a young person would remember an
author's name.) I asked her if she was reading,
DRAGON*FLY and she started laughing again and was
soooooo excited that she was meeting the mother of the
writer. Seems her friend, Cody, bought the book for
her from the Dawg House. ANYWAY, she asked if I could
take her book to you to have you write something in it
for her. I told her to leave it with the librarian
and I'd pick it up and have you do that. I feel bad
that I didn't even get her name but I will, somehow.

I feel bad, too, because the DAWG HOUSE closed their
doors this past Tuesday, for lack of enough business.
They did good selling the books for us. That little
gal said she'd like to get Kornstalkers, so I'll find
out who she is and see her again.

By the way, Dad made it through the stress test just
fine.

Hello everyone. It's been a while since I posted, so I thought I would let you know what I've been up to since Dragon•Fly came out. Promotion, promotion and more promotion. Writing a book is only a small part and the easiest part of the job. Once that is complete you have to find customers. Find readers who will spend there hard earned money on something that you wrote. This is not as easy as it sounds, if it sounded easy at all. I believe I produced a very good story with a lot of illustrations and I'm very proud of this book. Not to belittle Kornstalkers, I love that story as well, but Dragon•Fly is three times it's size. If you like Fantasy Tales, like The Lord Of The Rings, The Hobbit, or The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. Or, even Eragon and Harry Potter, than you are sure to like Dragon•Fly and I urge you to order a signed copy or two. You won't regret it. If you like really scary stories, than Kornstalkers is the book for you. I would buy them both and start collecting them all.

I wanted to start a major project as soon as I could this year, so I started painting it today. I've been working on the sketch off and on since the first of the year. I'm excited about getting back to painting again after such a long stretch of working strictly on my book.

The painting I started is some of the main characters out of the book Dragon•Fly. I think you're going to like it. I will post some pictures of the progression right here as I go along.

I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels this way, but I'm so tired of the political adds and news. It just keeps reminding just how bad the economy is, especially here in Michigan. I hope everyone tries to stay positive through the elections and that it brings positive change to all.

Speaking of change, I've worked very hard the past couple of weeks updating the website. I added a shopping cart for ease of purchasing and added a lot more product. Please browse at your leisure. I'm sure you'll find something here that you like.

That's all for now. Remember, "use your imagination, without it, all you have is reality."

"Follow Your Dreams!"

Dan

I've been very busy on the Fantasy novel and it's coming along really well. It's to the final edits and illustrations now, so it shouldn't be very much longer before a date is set for the release. Pre-orders are now being accepted if you would like to be one of the first to receive a signed copy. I did the first show of the year last weekend in Lapeer, Michigan. Saturday was very hot and Sunday, well lets just say we all got pretty wet. But, all in all a great weekend. I got to spend it with my good friend Zack. Thanks for coming out Zack and thanks for the help. We put him to work during the rain. He's definately a true fan and friend. Look for his work in the future. He sure can write and draw himself.

That's all for now. Thanks for stopping in and sorry it took so long to post, I'll try and get better at that. Be looking for "Dragon-Fly" in the very near future! (Pre-Order Today!)

Sneak Peak at the sketch for the cover of the book.
More sketches will be posted soon!

Hi everyone. Just thought I would post. It's been a while since the last one. This past week I finished the first half of the Fantasy novel that I've been writing for the past year or so. That half is off to the editor while I do the final touches on the last half. I also been designing a website for www.oxfordphoto.com
It turned out very nice. If you get a chance check it out. Darren Oxford is an excellent photogrpher and has hundred of samples on his site. He also shot our wedding. If you need a website, I would be more than happy to talk to you about it and give you a quote. That's all for now looking forword to getting back to the book.

My Lords and Ladies, and of young adults.....The Michigan Renaissance Festival is on its way and I've been spending many hours down there having fun , I mean doing research and gathering more and more ideas for the fantasy novel that I'm working on. I've been flooded with calls, and emails wanting to know when my next book will be out. I know they are well past due. First of all thank you for your correspondences and my apologies for how long the next two books are taking. The Fantasy novel has taken control of my life and is growing every day. It's well past the page count that I was shooting for and now I'm shooting for a new page count 300 plus. Its taken a lot longer than I expected and the story keeps on getting more and more intense as it goes. I still hope to have it complete by the end of the year, but I will be honest there are days I have my doubts. However long it takes I'm sure when it's complete it will be all worth the wait. Thank you for waiting!

As for Deja Boo…. Sorry it has been put on hold until the Fantasy novel is complete. That's all that can be said about that right now.

Thanks once again and keep checking back for the latest updates.

Good day!

Dan

I made a new friend during my visit to Attica Elementary.
Zack emails me after reading my book "Kornstalkers."

Dear Dan,
"This is Zack from Attica, the kid you had read your Kornstalkers book , then tell you how it was. Well, it was awsome, I had my aunt read it and she had Nightmares. That was the best book I have ever read. I just can't wait to read #2. I hope you come and tell us about the next book at Zemmer."
Your friend,
Zack Graham

Thanks Zack for the kind words and taking the time to write!

I'm glad you enjoyed the book and as for your aunt, the nightmares eventually will go away; at least until you go out in a cornfield then they may return again. :)

Hi everyone. I hope everyone had a great weekend. I really wanted to spend the weekend writing, but instead my laptop had other plans for me and desided to die on me while writing Saturday morning. I lost a few pages of work, but that's not the bad part. I just spent the rest of the weekend buying and setting up a new laptop with all my files and programs. "Ouch on the wallet!" Anyway I hope this computer is as good as the last one was. I do demand a lot from them and I do work them to death. I'm back up and running and back to the books. More school events this week and next. I'll keep you posted! Check back soon!

Made a new friend here a few days ago. Every day for about a week now this liitle guy shows up on my front porch for one or two of my favorite cookies "Nutter Butters." I think he thinks it's one big peanut.

Back to my book.

P.S. Here's my two dogs Cody the Golden Retreiver and Lucky, the Springer enjoying the Daytona Race.

Hi everyone, well it's bitter cold here, around 0 degrees. Can't do much outdoors so I've been doing a lot of reading and writing and getting ready for March, "Reading Month." I have a lot of school visits scheduled and I'm looking forward to every one of them. I just finished reading (listening, audio CD) Stephen King's new novel "CELL." If you like Stephen King and even if you don't, it's a MUST READ! I'm not sure where my next read will take me, but I know I'll be staying off the cell phone for a while after reading "Cell". Well that's all for now, I have a lot of writing to do today before the Daytona 500 race.

Check back again soon.

Hello;
I want to thank everyone for an exciting year in 2005. We had a lot going on and I'm sorry I was unable to finish the 2nd book in the "Chilled to the Bone" series...."DeJa BOO". It will, however, be out this year before the Halloween season.

I have been working quite hard, lately, on another project that, hopefully, will be out soon. It is geared towards kids ages 8 and up and along the fantasy line. So, if you like books like Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Eragon & Eldest, The Chronicles of Narnia or Dragon Rider, you're sure to like what is coming up next (See what's new!). It's going to be a busy year, with shows, school events, writing and painting, and my hopes is to run into you sometime throughout the year. I would love to meet each and every one of you.

I don't know about you but I received a lot of books for Christmas this year, and I've read just about all of them already. I read more kids books than adult ones. I find them more enjoyable, fast, and to the point. Don't get me wrong, I do read adult books, too. Favorite, so far, is "Best Seller," by Christopher Knight; not because he's my friend, but it's definitely a good read. I also read his new series over the weekend, "Freddie Fernortner," written under his pen name, Johnathan Rand. I believe you may have heard of him from his "Michigan and American Chiller" series. All three series are great for kids. Keep up the good work, Johnathan; and Chris, I'm looking for more adult books from you. Well, I also received a
couple Harry Potter books for Christmas, and believe it or not, I'm going to take the time to read them too.

Goals this year.....write more, read more, draw and paint alot more, and hopefully spend more time with my family.

That's all for now. Check back often!

I hope all of you have a fantastic NEW YEAR!

Dan Waltz
