Tony Root

Born and raised in Gaylord, Michigan, Tony graduated from Gaylord High School in 1996 and Lake Superior State University in 2000 with a bachelor of science degree in political science with a minor in journalism, cum laude.
At LSSU, Tony wrote for the campus newspaper, The Compass. After college, he began working as a staff writer for the Ogemaw County Herald in West Branch, Michigan, later transferring to the Roscommon County Herald-News. In 2003, he became editor of the Herald-News. During his three years as editor of the Herald-News, Tony focused much of his attention on writing features and opinion pieces, keeping the paper’s copy clean and readable, and producing attractive, engaging newspaper pages. The latter effort led to his appointment as design editor for Sunrise Printing & Publishing in December 2006. In that position, he ensured the company’s other publications looked their best and reached their readers on time. He left the company in May 2008 to pursue his writing and editing career. In 2005 Tony became free-lance editor for D.W. Publishing and continues to edit stories and books for us as jobs come in.
Tony lives in Michigan’s beautiful Higgins Lake area, and would be happy to take on any editing job you may have. If you have a paper, article, short story or novel that needs professional editing, Tony is the editor for you, and you should contact Dan at D.W. Publishing for more details.
